Frequently asked questions
Please check the following list for answers to our most frequently asked questions.
How far are Mary's Farm Cottages from Perth?
We are 300 km away, or just under 4 hours drive. This means we are a great place to stay on the journey between Perth and Esperance.
Can you provide meals at the cottages?
If you book ahead, we offer our very own steamed Cambinata Yabbies with dipping sauces, as well as salad, bread, olive oils and our dukkahs. You can also buy frozen yabby soup. There are other meals available for those who don’t eat crustaceans or have special dietary requirements, so please just ask. Of course, the cottages themselves have kitchen areas (in the one-bed and two-bed but not double room configurations) so you can put together a feast of seasonal local produce you pick up along the way!
What is the maximum number of guests you can accommodate?
The total maximum occupancy for the eco-village is 48.
Are children welcome, and what facilities do you have for children?
Yes, children are very welcome. There is a playground, sand area and large grassed area on site. We ask that you please ensure your children are not left unattended.
What is the weather like?
We recommend that you always bring something warm to wear at night, as nights can be cold all year round, especially outdoors. You can check the weather forecast for nearby Lake Grace.
What seasonal activities might I see on the farm?
From late April until mid June, crops of wheat, barley, lupins and peas are sown. From November to the end of December/early January these crops are harvested. Yabbies are caught all year round with the main season being November–May. Most days yabbies are sorted and or packed out to be despatched overseas, interstate and around WA.
Can I use my mobile phone or access the internet using my mobile devices?
You can access the internet and there is good phone coverage via the Telstra network. There may be poor reception via other networks.
Where can I shop for food and are the shops open on the weekends?
The general store in Kukerin is 3 km from the cottages, and is open weekdays and Saturday mornings until 11:00 am. The Nenke family will be happy to help you out if you miss the shops!
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. Please note that if you cancel less than 7 days prior to your stay, you will lose your deposit.
Do I need to pay in advance?
At the time of booking, we collect a deposit of the first night’s stay to confirm your booking. The balance is due when you check out.
